The Marycept ingredient list, one by one

Six ingredients, what each is, why it is in our capsule, what the research says, and who should check with a doctor first.

What ingredients are in Marycept?

Marycept contains bacopa monnieri, huperzia serrata (a natural source of huperzine A), L-tyrosine, rhodiola root, green coffee bean and theobromine. Capsule and binding ingredients such as rice flour and magnesium stearate are also listed on the bottle.

Reading our label

The Supplement Facts panel on your bottle lists the serving size, the amount per serving and the other ingredients. We name every active ingredient here so you and your pharmacist can check them. Rice flour and magnesium stearate are there as fillers and flow agents; unlike some pages we have seen, we do not pretend they boost your brain.

Bacopa Monnieri

Bacopa monnieri (water hyssop) · Memory

An Ayurvedic herb used for centuries to support learning and memory. It is one of the best-studied nootropic herbs: several randomised trials in healthy adults found better memory recall after about 12 weeks of daily use. Its bacosides are also studied as antioxidants in brain tissue.

Good to know: Needs 8 to 12 weeks; can cause mild stomach upset or loose stools. Ask first if you take thyroid medicine or have a slow heart rate.

Huperzia Serrata

Chinese club moss (source of huperzine A) · Learning

A club moss that naturally contains huperzine A, a compound that slows the breakdown of acetylcholine, the brain messenger most closely linked to learning and memory. It has been studied in China for decades.

Good to know: Do not combine with Alzheimer's medicines (donepezil, rivastigmine, galantamine), anticholinergics or some heart drugs. Avoid with seizures, asthma or a slow heart rate.

L-Tyrosine

Amino acid · Focus

An amino acid the brain uses to make dopamine and norepinephrine. Studies suggest it helps maintain working memory and attention during stressful, demanding tasks such as sleep loss, cold or multitasking.

Good to know: Do not use with MAO inhibitors. Ask first if you take levodopa or thyroid medicine, or have an overactive thyroid.

Rhodiola Root

Rhodiola rosea (golden root) · Stress resilience

An adaptogenic root from cold mountain regions, traditionally used against fatigue. Trials suggest it can support mental performance and reduce feelings of fatigue under stress.

Good to know: Can feel stimulating; ask first if you have bipolar disorder or take antidepressants or diabetes medicine.

Green Coffee Bean

Coffea arabica, unroasted · Alertness

Unroasted coffee beans rich in chlorogenic acids, antioxidants that roasting reduces. Green coffee also contains natural caffeine, which supports alertness and reaction time.

Good to know: Contains caffeine. Count it alongside coffee, tea and energy drinks; avoid late in the day if you are sensitive.

Theobromine

From cacao · Gentle energy

The main stimulant in dark chocolate. It is milder and longer-lasting than caffeine and is studied for mood and alertness, especially paired with a little caffeine.

Good to know: A mild stimulant; people with heart rhythm problems or anxiety should ask first.

Before you order, please read this. Marycept is a dietary supplement, not a treatment for memory loss, dementia, ADHD or any other condition. Green coffee bean and theobromine are natural stimulants, so go easy on coffee and ask your doctor first if you have a heart condition, high blood pressure or anxiety. Huperzia serrata can interact with Alzheimer's medicines, anticholinergics and some heart drugs; L-tyrosine can interact with MAO inhibitors, levodopa and thyroid medicine. Do not use if pregnant, nursing or under 18. New or worsening memory problems deserve a medical check.
